Beautiful casual style on this dark brown 1960's Hornback alligator skin clutch.
Truthfully, I cannot tell whether this is alligator, crocodile, or both, but the central panel is highly textured and "3D".
The “base” leather is a flatter texture with more cubic-shaped pattern.
Do you know the difference?
7” high x 11.
5” wide, and, when flat, about 1" deep.
Opens to 3 interior compartments.
double-snap closure on outside flap.
black leather edge-stitched (see photos for one small area in which edge stitching has broken)
Interior is accordian-envelope design with 3 separate compartments.
The backmost compartment has 2 side-by-side flat pockets that could have held a lip pencil and hand mirror.
When I inherited this item, there was a small mirror in that pocket, but it had lost its reflection.
The frontmost compartment has a snap-closure expandable pocket with over flap.
This clutch smells good and has been lovingly used for many years.
It’s in pretty good condition, with normal exterior scuffing and a small black (ink?) stain in the back compartment.
The leather is very strong and wears really well, and yet has some minor cracking and wear on the top fold.
Please look carefully at the photos.
