*Summary:* The Student Service Advisor is responsible for promoting student success through accurate and responsive advisement and service-related areas, providing support and advocacy as needed for students throughout the student life cycle at Legacy Education.
This position is responsible and accountable for the advisement of students within their group and serving as a primary point of contact for the student(s).
The Student Services Advisor also functions as a role model and fosters a culture of CARE consistent with our Vision, Mission, and Values *Essential Duties and Responsibilities:* * Supports the student by answering student questions and embodies the “Student First” mentality.
* Utilizes appropriate systems and student data to confirm and track accurate information for students.
* Documents all interactions in the appropriate institutional systems * A Student Services Advisor will be assigned to each new section of CD-100.
The SSA will co-facilitate the course and use this platform to engage students in the following: * Identify triggers indicating a need for proactive outreach to obtain a better understanding of challenges and successes.
* Coach students to explore alternatives to overcome barriers to persistence or graduation.
* Make appropriate resource referrals when necessary.
* Promote student self-service tools during the class and subsequent advising sessions.
* Reviews and makes preliminary assessments of student problems and issues and makes recommendations.
* Engages students through a variety of communication channels.
This may include video advising, inbound student calls, and proactive outreach to students to deliver first contact resolution.
* Promote student self-service tools during new student orientation.
* Collaborates with other departments and functional areas to deliver an optimal student experience from orientation to graduation.
* Assists in general academic advisement functions.
* Organizes, schedules and coordinates activities such as blood drives, graduations, on ground activities, open houses, orientations, and other special events and disseminates event announcements and information as well as the development of promotional material.
* Reviews and maintains student records, inputs data, and generates letters and/or lists utilizing the student database.
* Assists in gathering information/data in support of reporting requirements.
Prepares reports for internal and external use.
* Oversees the campuses Drug-Free School and Workplace Program.
* Ability to design and implement programs and services to meet identified student needs and campus needs.
* Ability to interpret and evaluate descriptions of problems brought forward by student(s) and be able to analyze the problem, draw valid conclusions and project consequences of various alternative courses of action.
* Handle, analyze, review, and disseminate all Student Surveys.
* Completes other duties as assigned.
*Qualifications:* * Bachelor's degree required * 1+ years of customer service or related experience required * 1 year or more of experience in Higher Education is desirable * High level of interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills *Essential Skills and Experience:* * Ability to work independently as well as function as part of a team.
* Must be a self-starter with the ability to prioritize effectively * PC skills in Microsoft Office, Internet applications, and database software *Equipment Used: *Computer, phone, xerox machine *Direct Reports:* None *Physical and Mental Demands: *The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
