Harmony At Home is seeking a Full-Time Year Round School Counselor to support and grow the Counseling Program and its staff.
The Full-Time Year Round School Counselor will be under the general direction of the Counseling Programs Manager.
The job duties will include: * Treat child clients in various schools around Monterey County and surrounding areas * Maintain a full caseload (If services are offered via Telehealth, the Full-Time Year Round School Counselor should be able to see at least 1 student per hour assigned.
If services are offered in person, the Full-Time Year Round School Counselor should be able to see roughly an average of one dyad/group per hour assigned) * Maintain client files on a daily basis – so as not to omit information because of a lapse in time.
Ensure progress notes are signed off by treating therapists * Maintain open communication with Harmony At Home staff & school personnel including, but not limited to the administrators, counselors, social workers, teachers and other onsite resources * Track hours at the school while counseling and complete paperwork * Attend weekly supervision with your assigned Clinical Supervisor (group and individual) * Complete monthly reports and any other reports that may be required that are equally vital to the office in a timely manner * File reports to Child Protective Services (CPS) upon any reasonable suspicion of child abuse and alert the Principal for your school site * Report to your Clinical Supervisors any issues related to client welfare and report to the Program Director any program or agency issues * Share HAH's mission with the public Full-Time Year Round Counselor hours are broken down as follows: * During the school year, 40 hours of counseling per week for 35 weeks * Up to 40 hours per week during the summer of counseling and/or tasks related to preparation for annual Orientation in August as directed by the Counseling Program Manager.
* Up to 10 days of administrative work throughout the year as requested by your Program Manager or the Director of Operations * Spring Break, Thanksgiving Break and Winter Break off * 24 hours of sick time per year.
*(Job duties and breakdown of hours may change based on organizational / program needs)* *SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS* * Counselors are required to attend an orientation at the start of each school year – to be trained on current requirements and methodologies exacted by Harmony At Home.
Orientation/Training is mandatory.
Trainees and Interns can receive training hours signed off by their Clinical Supervisors.
Licensed Therapists can obtain CEU's as HAH is a BBS approved training site.
* All counselors must have training in Law and Ethics and adhere to practices set forth by HAH.
All counseling staff is to provide HAH with confirmation that they have obtained education on Law and Ethics every two years.
These standards will be reviewed during orientation.
HAH’s Director of Operations, CEO/President and Supervisors hold an open door policy.

Any violation of legal or ethical standards will be reported to the Board of Behavioral Sciences * Counselors are to coordinate their vacation and personal time off with their school’s vacation and closure times.
If time off is scheduled during school days, time off requests must be submitted 2 weeks in advance and the counselor needs to inform their Clinical Supervisor(s), HAH office and their school(s) to make best efforts at informing child clients of their absence.
In the event of absence due to sickness or an emergency, notification is to be made to their Clinical Supervisor, HAH office and school(s) as soon as possible.
* Counselors must be able to lift and carry your locking tote box, with client files, from their car to their space on campus, and back to the car at the end of their shift.
Counselors will also need to be able to carry your large tub of art supplies.
Counselors must be able to lift and carry approximately 30 lbs.
Harmony At Home will provide counselors with a rolling cart to assist with transporting the art supplies and client file box.
* Counselors will need to provide HAH with a phone number where you can be reached throughout the day.
It is necessary that you monitor your phone for communications from your Clinical Supervisor and/or Program Manager.
Prompt response is expected.
* Counselors will need to have access to email, as this is a form of communication HAH relies on heavily.
It is necessary that you monitor your emails daily, and respond within 24 hours.
* Counselors will be responsible for maintaining client files in the manner instructed by HAH.
Counselors are expected to keep these files locked up and safe from intrusion.
* It is imperative that counselors do not discuss clients or cases with friends or family.
* Other duties as assigned.
*COMPENSATION* The Full-Time Year Round School Counselor position will be an hourly year round position paid at the rate of $28.
85/hr (which equals to an average of $60,000.
00 per year).
There will be a 90 day probationary period to train on the job duties and evaluate appropriateness and effectiveness in the position.
