A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A Radiologic (X-Ray) Technologist
As an imaging professional, you play a critical role in providing care to our patients.
As ordered by the physicians, you perform x-ray examinations as part of the full-circle diagnostic evaluations our patients receive.
You carefully explain procedures to patients in order to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation.
Ensuring patients are prepared is of the utmost importance, and you do this by maintaining continues communication during their x-ray exam - positioning them correctly, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into specified positions, and adjusting controls to set exposure factors.
You minimize risk to patients by practicing radiation protection techniques and making sure they're properly shielded.
In addition, you help maintain our x-ray equipment and ensure it is in good working order.
By communicating with the lead radiologic technologist, you schedule routine maintenance and calibration.
You check for clarity in each image that is taken and distribute images to appropriate medical staff.
At times, you also assist with providing training and support to students doing their clinical hours.
You find great satisfaction in working with our patients to provide quality care, and this is what makes you a great X-Ray Technician!
