I recently bought a flugelhorn with the idea of learning to play it, but I quickly discovered it's not for me.
The horn was built in 1971 by Cousenon of Paris, France and I'm told their horns are considered among the finest ever built.
This particular horn is serial number 82576 and plays beautifully, although it's tarnished with age.
It also has the letter "N" stamped on the second valve which apparently carries some special significance although I don't know what that is.
I bought it from a retired horn teacher who bought it new and took good care of it.
I took it to Kurt Heisig, a brass luthier in Monterey, who pronounced it a sound instrument and also said it's very desirable among horn players but it's rare to encounter one in America.
He further said a horn of this pedigree commands a price tag of $2K, but I only paid $900 and that's my price, just want to get my money back and not looking to turn a profit.
Kurt also said the leather carry bag is worth $200 alone.
The price is firm and your cash is good.
