GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Under the direction of the Director of Finance, VA Operations, the Financial Analyst provides financial reporting/planning & analysis for the Soledad, Ca Value-Added (VA) Plant
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
· Participate in the period-end financial close process by analyzing account balances, preparing journal entries related to plant operating expenses and completing the period-end Operations Report according to established deadlines.
· Participate in the development and analysis of annual budget and Qtrly forecast setting processes and explain variances to budget/ forecasts with identified business drivers.
· Participate in annual standard cost setting process for Raw Veg, Pkg Mtls, Finished Goods labor and overhead and other cost categories.
· Compile weekly plant financial reports/KPI’s and explain variances to budget/forecast to Plant Leadership Team.
· Responsible for processing and balancing the payroll data for West Coast Value added production employees (including temporary employee’s hours).
· Analyze and explain daily and weekly operating performance variances versus plan and standard.
· Assist in the development and maintenance of internal financial controls for plant operations.
This includes performing periodic audits of R&M Inventory, Raw Vegetable and Packaging Inventory, Finished Goods inventory, and purchasing/receiving audits.
· Perform backup duties with Soledad RTE Analyst when they are out of the office.

· Complete and submit to Director of Finance and Plant Director for approval all costing of new and existing materials, to include Proforma requests from the corporate sales & marketing team.
· Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
· 3 to 5 years of cost accounting/financial analysis experience required, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
· Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, procedures, and application.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills, with timely responses and communication at all times; Spanish language skills helpful.
· Strong systems orientation with experience using MS Excel, Word, and Access.
Knowledge of J.
D.
Edwards or an equivalent G/L and Inventory system preferred.
· Strong analytical ability with attention to detail.
· Must have the ability to make decisions, maintain regular and acceptable attendance, follow directions, interact well with co-workers, understand, and follow posted work rules/procedures and to work well both independently as well as in a team.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear.
The employee must occasionally lift (including overhead) and/or up to 35 lbs.
WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to work overtime, weekends, rotating shifts preferred/required.
